Dark red-purple in color with classic aromas of Rutherford Dust, black cherries and a hint of red licorice. Sweet tobacco comes up in the background, along with dusty cocoa notes. The palate is lush with upfront flavors of chocolate-covered cherries flowing into raspberry, followed by long-lasting chocolate and coffee flavors. The expression of the arc of flavor is beautiful and rich from first taste to last.

HARVEST & WINEMAKING
The majority of grapes come from our own 24-acre Rutherford estate, where all five Bordeaux varietals— Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec—are grown:. The Cabernet Sauvignon was hand harvested September 26-October 21, at a Brix between 26.2 and 30. The blending varietals were individually hand harvested September 8-October 21 at a Brix level between 24.0 and 28.9. After the fruit was sorted berry by berry, it underwent a 2-3 day cold soak and small-batch fermentation using an assortment of French yeast strains and gentle pumpovers 2-3 times each day. The wine aged for 21 months in barrel before being racked twice and bottled August 2010. The wine rested in our underground cellar until its release October 2011.
