Life in the Grove

Who would have guessed Napa Valley, a small pioneer community established during the gold rush days would flourish into one of the most prestigious wine growing regions in the world today? Surrounded by its purple hued mountains, Sequoia Grove Winery sits on 22 acres right in the heart of the valley floor in an important region referred to as the Rutherford Bench. Here the alluvial soil, rich in minerals, combined with the fog from the bay, mingling with the warm inland temperatures create the ideal location to produce our award winning Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our Tasting Room is housed in a 150-year-old barn, nestled among the majestic Sequoia trees. Recently renovated, yet keeping its original character, you’ll find a knowledgeable and inviting staff eager to make your experience memorable. Here you will discover wines produced expressly for the winery, not available in the market, as well as the Sequoia Grove wines you’ve enjoyed from your wine shop or favorite restaurant. Our tasting room has a wonderful collection of wine-related items for sale, as well as unusual lifestyle pieces that reflect the Napa Valley experience. On a sunny day enjoy a glass of wine in our beautiful gardens, or on a rare rainy afternoon, sip your favorite wine in our Reserve Room.

Michael Trujillo, our Director of Winemaking and President, has been with Sequoia Grove since its beginnings joining the team in1982. We are fortunate as well to have Winemaker Molly Hill overseeing daily operations and quality control. Together Michael and Molly share the same passion for excellence, and have forged great relationships to acquire the best Napa Valley fruit available. Our Bordeaux-style wines show varietal expression, structure and balance with a true sense of place; a fresh approach yielding modern-day liquid treasures.

Sequoia Grove wines are made with 100% Napa Valley fruit from our original Estate vineyard and our newly acquired Tonella Estate Vineyard in Rutherford, as well as from premier Napa Valley Growers throughout Napa County.

Sequoia Grove Winery and Firebirds announce "Buy a Bottle, Save a Tree" promotion

Sequoia Grove Winery and Firebirds are proud to announce the “Buy a Bottle, Save a Tree” program to raise awareness of the need to protect the future of giant sequoias, the world’s largest trees. From September 1 through October 31, 2010, 10 percent of bottle sales generated from Sequoia Grove’s 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will be donated towards the Sequoia Grove Winery Save a Tree Campaign, an initiative benefitting the Sequoia Parks Foundation (SPF) to preserve both the parks’ natural environment and the future of giant sequoias.

“Buy a Bottle, Save a Tree” presents consumers, at 17 national Firebirds locations, with an opportunity to dine and wine with Sequoia Grove’s Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, #9 Most Popular Cabernet Sauvignon in top restaurants, according to Wine & Spirits much heralded Restaurant Poll April 2010, while aiding the SPF’s tree preservation initiatives. The SPF protects giant sequoias in their limited habitat by funding important education, restoration, and research projects in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Following a lead donation of $10,000 from the Winery, both Firebirds and Sequoia Grove are eager to provide the SPF with additional resources needed to continue its mission.

In addition, guests of Firebirds Wood Fire Grill will have a chance to indulge in special wine and food pairings and learn more about Sequoia Grove Winery and its Sequoia tree preservation campaign at special Winemaker dinners at the following 5 locations Birmingham, AL (Sept. 14); Charlotte, NC (Oct. 11); Winston-Salem, NC (Oct. 12); Phoenix, AZ (Oct. 25); Chandler, AZ (Oct. 26).

Announcing an exciting new partnership with the Sequoia Parks Foundation!

Sequoia Grove Winery is proud to announce a partnership with the Sequoia Parks Foundation (SPF) through the development of the Sequoia Grove Winery Save a Tree Campaign, continuing the winery’s longtime commitment to preserving both its natural environment and the future of giant sequoias. The program begins on National Arbor Day on Friday, April 30th with an event at the winery and will continue through the end of the year. Sequoia Grove’s dedication to the environment and sustainable practices is part of the winery’s heritage and history, as it is named after one of the last remaining groves of Redwoods in Napa Valley.

The SPF protects giant sequoias and their limited habitat by funding important education, restoration, and research projects in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The Winery’s support of the SPF helps to ensure the well-being of the mighty giant sequoias for future generations. In addition to an initial donation of $10,000, Sequoia Grove Winery will donate a percentage of sales through the “Try a Bottle, Save a Tree” on-premise wine promotion at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill (17 locations nationwide) and through other initiatives. These contributions will go towards SPF’s preservation initiatives, while building consumer involvement and awareness.
