2011 Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L

Dark red in color with aromas of black cherry and red fruit leading into notes of espresso and char with a hint of sage. The initial taste on the palate is a forward hit of juicy red fruit followed by blackberry and finishing with more savory flavors of toast and black tea.

Description

HARVEST & WINEMAKING

The fruit for this wine comes from the Stagecoach Vineyard in Altas Peak, from one of the highest blocks, block 8, with southern exposure. The Cabernet franc is a French clone also from Stagecoach vineyard block I. Hand harvested October 28, 2011, at 25.8 Brix and October 29, 2011, at 24.2 brix, respectively.

The fruit cluster sorted before a two-day cold soak. After inoculation with French yeast, the wine underwent small-batch fermentation, with gentle pumpovers 2-3 times per day. In barrel, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was racked twice before bottling in June 2013. The wine will be bottle aged nearly 2 years prior to its release in Spring, 2015.
