These grapes are grown in what Sequoia Grove casually refers to as the Oak Knoll bench. The vineyard is tucked into the western hills on one of the first estates in Napa Valley, and between its ancient oak trees and grazing cattle grow these beautifully cared-for vines. The grapes were hand harvested on October 17 at 27.3 Brix, then cluster sorted before a two-day cold soak and a small-batch fermentation using French yeast. The juice was gently pumped over 2-3 times per day during the primary fermentation. In barrel, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and aged 22 months before being racked twice and bottled August 2010. The wine rested in our underground cellar until its release March 2012.
