Each component is selected individually and only the very best of hundreds of lots make the final cut. The 2008 includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from Stagecoach Vineyard on Atlas Peak; and Cabernet Sauvignon from Lamoreaux Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, the Sequoia Grove estate vineyard and the Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford, and the Healy Vineyard in St. Helena. All of the fruit was picked by hand, then sorted twice, first by cluster and then berry by berry. After a two-day cold soak, the fruit was inoculated with an assortment of French yeast strains and underwent small-batch fermentation. The wine was aged 22 months in French oak before being bottled August 2010, then aged in our cellar until its release March 2012.
