2011 Napa Valley Chardonnay

Light golden yellow in color with a mineral note in the nose, leading into layers of lemongrass and a note of sweet lemon curd. Ripe, golden delicious apple aromas and fresh French bread give a fresh note. The palate is seamless with a gorgeous arc, hinting in the mid-palate of delicate custard with the slightest note of almond. The long finish ends with hints of nutmeg and toast.

These Chardonnay grapes come mostly from Dijon and Wente clones grown in the renowned Carneros District in Napa Valley. We buy fruit from the Beckstoffer vineyard, the Haire vineyard, the Ghisletta vineyard, and Kate’s vineyard in Oak Knoll. Grapes were harvested September 30 to October 11th with Brix from 21 to 25.

· Whole cluster pressed
· Inoculated with white Burgundy yeast strains
· Cool fermentation beginning in stainless steel tanks and ending in 100% French oak barrels
· Stirred on its lees bi-monthly for 8 months
· No secondary malolactic fermentation
