2011 Henry Brothers Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage   |  2012 2011 2009

Dark red in color, the nose gives aromas of red fruit and cola with vanilla and blackberry in the background. On the palate the arc is seamless, with ripe flavors of blackberry and black cherry filling the mouth.

Description

HARVEST & WINEMAKING

These grapes come from the local St. Helena obstetrician, Brian Henry. His Seventh Day Adventist family goes back three generations in Napa Valley. He, along with his three hardworking sons, felled the trees for this northeastern facing vineyard in Howell Mountain, which is planted with various clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, in addition to Merlot and Petit Verdot.

The fruit was hand harvested and cluster sorted before a two-day cold soak. After inoculation with French yeast, the wine underwent small-batch fermentation, with gentle pumpovers 2-3 times per day. In barrel, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was racked twice before bottling in June 2013. The wine will be bottle aged nearly 2 years prior to its release in Spring, 2015.
